Room 3

Room 3 have been doing a inquiry project about tiny houses with another school in China called nigbo primary.This lucky opportunity has already made a start and we are now progressing towards lesson five.which is building our tiny houses.We started of with doing our floor plan on a a3 piece of paper then moved on to our outside designs.Lesson two was editing our plans and gathering our equipment that we needed then shared our plan online an gave each other feedback.

                 Week 11 Blog Room 3 ------------------------------------------------------- It is Week 11! this means it is the last week of school. So far we have been working on our steam inquiry project with the Ningbo Primary School, so we can get it finished in term 1. We are on to stage 4, Test and Improve. It is really fun, and both classes are doing really well. ------------------------------------------------------- On Wednesday, we are having a mufti day where we can wear cultural, identity related clothes. Also on Wednesday our parents can come in and the children can show them their learning, it is pretty lit. There was also a power-cut on Tuesday night that stayed til 5:10 PM on Wednesday. ------------------------------------------------------- On Thursday, it was really sad because we were saying bye to Mrs Seerup. Week 7 Term 1 Writing: This week we started learning about narrative writing. We talked and wrote about memories we remember vividly and what emotions connect with those memories. We talked about the stories and pieces of writing that we have really enjoyed. We identified 3 stories we would take to a deserted island... We created "What if..." questions to help inspire our own narrative writing. Next week we will think about setting and character. Through this process of narrative writing we will make connections in the story which link to our own identity. The students will have the wonderful opportunity to be creative in their writing and use lots of descriptive vocabulary. Maths: Our focus this term has been developing our number knowledge and applying our number knowledge and strategies to problem solving questions. Blog Week 5 Room 3. Brought To You By Balaaj Nikhil & Cody. This Wonderful Week Started Off Like…… We Met Our Buddy Class, Room 15! It was fun and all and we had a great time

Mandarin with Mr Zhao!   This year we have a fantastic Mandarin teacher who will guide students to a better understanding of the Chinese language and culture. We have him every Wednesday for 30 minutes. This week he talked about Chinese New Year and how people around the world celebrate it. Robogals in Room 3 A member of the Robogals engineering team from the University of Auckland held a robotics workshop for room 3. Robogals is an international team which was created to encourage girls and boys to learn about engineering.  Students in room 3 had an awesome opportunity to code on the computers and design their own program to instruct the robots. The theme was a zombie apocalypse - students had to program their robot in the right direction to instruct their robots out of the maze! 

Kia ora Family, Friends and Whanau of Room 3 I am so very excited to be the teacher of Room 3 this year. It has been lovely getting to know each student in the classroom and seeing the students connect with one another again. We have been working together as a class to build a positive classroom environment in which we feel safe, supported and motivated to learn! Here are some pieces of work and moments that I have captured so far: Swimming: We have the fortunate opportunity to have a qualified and professional swimming instructor this term! Here the kids are learning how to feel comfortable in the water and how to float. Identity Circles: Identity is our inquiry focus in Term 1.
